ARCH1101 Assessment 1: The Stair Concept Model

Clients: Mountain & Moon (primary), Trent Jansen Studio (secondary)
Location: Ground-level gallery to Mountain & Moon above ground studio
Focus word: delicate (Mountain & Moon adjective)
Materials: wood, glass, metal

Concept:
As both clients are artists, it is important that the staircase is ‘of their hand’, showcasing elements of both timber and metal, reflecting their practices.  The structure allows for 360° views of the gallery floor, providing an immersive experience.  The theme of the stair is ‘delicate’, demonstrated through thin railings, glass elements, and invisible structural support, giving the illusion of lightness.
